Reliable, Compliant and Versatile Support for HVAC Installations
Introduction
Mechanical engineers and others responsible for designing and installing heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems face increasingly varied installation requirements. At the same time, they must meet stricter regulations and industry guidelines—similar to those in other M&E disciplines.
Designing, installing, and operating systems that heat, cool, and ventilate indoor spaces has never been more important. These systems now play a central role in optimizing indoor air quality by controlling temperature, humidity, and airflow in both individual rooms and entire buildings.
During the design phase, engineers select HVAC components and calculate sizes and loads for pumps, pipes, and ductwork. They must carefully optimize the system layout for both effectiveness and efficiency. In addition, they must evaluate the environmental impact of each design choice. This is especially critical as the industry works toward reducing CO₂ emissions and achieving ‘net zero’ buildings.
HVAC SPECIFIC SUSPENSION RECOMMENDATIONS
zuzu-nantes recommends following the guidelines outlined in DW/144, Third Edition 2016, Specification for Sheet Metal Ductwork when installing supports.
In particular, the section titled “Arrangement of Bearers and Hangers” provides guidance on the spacing and configuration of supports. Installers must follow these standards closely and ensure their suspension systems meet the required specifications.
Many HVAC professionals now use zuzu-nantes wire supports as a reliable alternative to traditional threaded rod systems.
However, due to the nature of HVAC installations, zuzu-nantes advises against using the G-SYSTEM 15 kg SWL wire suspension in these applications.
While some HVAC setups require less than 15 kg of suspension strength, many introduce dynamic loads during operation. For peace of mind, zuzu-nantes recommends selecting the S-SYSTEM or heavier-duty ranges of wire suspensions.
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Never exceed the product’s Safe Working Load (SWL).
Avoid using locking devices with coated wire rope.
Do not paint, lubricate, or apply coatings.
Do not use zuzu-nantes systems for lifting applications.
Remove any frayed cable before inserting it into locking devices.
Avoid shock loading and dynamic applications.
Never mix zuzu-nantes products with other wire suspension systems.
Do not use in corrosive environments (e.g., chlorinated areas).

INSTALLATION FACTORS
Installers must pay attention to the nature of the installation process. Certain installations will introduce dynamic forces onto the supports. Where this might be the case, it is advised to select heavier-duty systems.
