Abbott Blue Practice Chanter Reed The Abbott Blue lands between the 2 basic practice chanter reed styles. It has narrower and thinner blades than an Abbott or a Gibson, but it is still wider than UK practice reeds. We find the pitch benefits from an extra couple wraps of hemp before seating the reed. Like the original Abbotts, the blades can be very lightly sanded on fine paper to further refine the tone. We believe a great reed should be easy to find. We store and select reeds with care.
